Audi's flagship model is designed as a highly efficient parallel hybrid. 2.0 TFSI, which has been altered in some areas, generates an output of 155 kW (211 hp) and 350 Nm (258.15 pounds-ft) of torque is available between 1500 and 4200 rpm. Internal combustion engine works with a disc-shaped electric motor that develops 40 kW (54 hp) and 210 Nm (154.89 pounds-ft).
The permanent magnet synchronous motor is mounted in the space normally occupied by the torque converter in front of the modified eight-speed Tiptronic. A multi-plate clutch that operates in an oil bath connecting to or from the electric motor and the TFSI engine. The link operates ultra-precise and careful in all situations. Audi A8 hybrid reaches 100 km / h (62.14 km / h) of 7.7 seconds from a standing start and has a top speed of 235 km / h (146.02 mph). Fuel consumption in EU cycle is less than 6.4 liters per 100 km (36.75 U.S. mpg) and CO2 emissions of less than 148 grams per kilometer (238.18 g / mile). Audi A8 hybrid can run on up to 100 km / h (62.14 km / h) solely on electricity and has a range of up to three kilometers (1.86 miles) at a steady 60 km / h (37.28 mph). This gives the driver the choice between three modes: SR characteristic short prioritize the electric drive, while the D-mode effectively controls both engine and electric motor. S-mode and Tiptronic gate is designed for a sporty driving style. Hybrid sedan has five operational modes: with the TFSI engine alone, with electric drive alone or in hybrid fashion, recreation and the increase is also possible. Lithium-ion battery, which weighs 36.7 kg (80.91 pounds), is in a crash-proof area of the trunk. This gives 1.3 kWh nominal energy and up to 40 kW. Two different methods are used to air-cool the battery, depending on your needs: with air blown from the cab with a fan, and via a separate cooling circuit connected to the automatic air conditioning. The battery is kept within the temperature window needed to perform to its full potential over a wide range. The electric engine and compact power electronics, which acts as a controller between the electric motor and battery are water cooled.

In visual terms, the Audi A8 hybrid characterized by fine detail. The ten spokes of their wheels - which has a diameter of 18 inches as standard and 19 inches as an alternative - reminiscent of the turbine blades. The body has hybrid badges, and Arctic Silver are available as an exclusive paint finish. The metallic paint, three-zone automatic climate control, LED headlights and Bose audio system comes standard.
